The Carnegie Art Center presents a series of professional development workshops, sponsored by the Tonawandas’ Council on the Arts / Carnegie
Art Center and partnering organizations, designed to provide techniques
and strategies for addressing current issues faced by arts
and cultural organizations. These workshops present topics
which offer tools and skills to meet the challenges of succeeding
in today's ever-changing arts and cultural environment. Each workshop
has been designed to empower arts administrators to strengthen
and expand their resources as well as to provide professional
networking opportunities.

Fundamentals of Fund Raising Workshops
Professional Development Training for Arts Administrators
presented by Canisius College Center for Professional Development
and the Carnegie Art Center
March 3 - May 12 (no class on 3/24)
Mondays, 5:30 - 8:30pm at Canisius Center @ Amherst
Free for Niagara County Arts & Cultural Organizations

This 30 hour course, taught by recognized community experts, is presented to provide administrators, staff and board members of arts and cultural organizations with an overview of the critical areas of fund raising and to provide them with the tools necessary to engage the rest of the board and their organization in fund raising efforts. Topics include:
- Annual Giving
- Major Gifts
- Direct Mail
- Capital Campaigns
- Board Members and Volunteers
- Planned Giving
- Special Events and Sponsorships
- Using the Web for Marketing, Research and E-Philanthropy
- Two Solicitation Workshops
Who should attend?
- Fund raising professionals who are experienced in on area and want to learn more
- Staff who are potential fund raisers
- Entry level fundraising professionals
- Board Members of not-for-profit organizations
We recommend at least one staff member and one board member from each organization attend, however, up to four representatives from each organization are welcome.
It is expected that participants will attend all of the sessions. Those who attend at least 8 of the 10 sessions, including the Solicitation Workshops, will receive a Certificate of Complete from Canisius.

There is a management development program that is a hands-on 4
month program tailored to your organization after an evaluation
process. Scholarships available to participants from non-profits

Community Counsel Services New York State
provides management training in finance, press relations, employee
relations, audience development, diversity, and board development.
They also work with the New York State Board Training Consortium

United Way works with other agencies to provide services to non-profit
organizations. They work with Community Counsel Services New York

Experimental
Television Center
The Experimental Television Center provides support to electronic
media and film artists and organizations in New York State to
encourage creative work; to facilitate the exhibition of moving-image
and sound art to audiences in all regions of the State; and to
strengthen organizations with active media programs. Since 1989
we have awarded over $750,000 to organizations and artists. The
program is made possible with support from the New York State

Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation
The Foundation is a regional organization of state agencies which
offer programs that encourages exchanges and the sharing of resources
within the region. Provides support through grants, technical

Provides free and low-cost legal assistance for artists and arts
